  6. Tape antennas on sun-film windows:

  8.        Using the tape loop, discussed earlier, I tested the antenna 
  9. on two types of sun-film windows.  The first was a plastic film, often 
  10. used in states such as Florida.  There was no significant pattern or 
  11. gain change for the antenna.  The second type of film is the metal film
  12. sun screen.  
  13.  
  14.        Results here were dramatic.  The pattern was severely disrupted as
  15. well as SWR.  Be sure that your window films are not the metalic type if 
  16. you plan to use indoor VHF/UHF antennas pointed out the window.  The metalic
  17. film acts like a reflector to the signal.  Attenuation is a strong
  18. factor concerning propagation.  Some plastic films appear metalic, but may 
  19. not be.

  22. Tape antennas on screened windows:

  24.        There are a three types of screen used as screening for windows. 
  25. Plastic, fiber, and metal.  The first two show some attenuation of the
  26. gain and pattern shape is similarly effected.  Basically, the addition 
  27. of the screen frame effect the VHF spectrum greater than the UHF spectrum.
  28. The screen frame size is near the size of VHF loops at frequency.

  30.        Metal screen acts similar to metalic film with greater effect. Using
  31. the top portion of the window is the best bet unless you don't have windows
  32. like the type used in the Northern States.

  37.        Here in Florida, I have single windows that slide to the side rather
  38. than the older storm type in Connecticut.  The film on the windows is 
  39. plastic.  Testing was conducted here at my QTH and at the Electromagnetic
